To carry out inspections, re-inspections and surveys and to be responsible for the investigation, enforcement and manage a caseload. To prepare and serve Statutory Notices and take enforcement action in line with the Council’s strategy and departmental enforcement policies.

To report and/or advise where statutory action is not appropriate and to initiate prosecutions for failure to comply with statutory instruments where appropriate.

To consult/negotiate with developers, landlords, contractors, business and other clients as appropriate, to ensure progress of casework. To carry out site visits, surveys, inspections and to attend Public Inquiries, courts of law, and tribunals.

You will deliver effective trading standards housing enforcement, leading on investigation and resolution of complex cases. Covering MEES, membership of Client Money Protection Schemes and Redress schemes, Tenants fees, Tenancy deposits, safety of let accommodation, types of letting arrangements/agreements and their contract formation and conduct with reference to the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Fraud Act 2006. Visiting premises, ensuring legal compliance, identifying priorities, risks and impacts. Fostering relationships across a wide range of partners.

Mitigating against detrimental impacts of rogue landlords and agents, including mis-management of properties for illicit purposes, modern slavery, the environment and sustainability, fire, health and safety risks (particularly to the vulnerable and young people and children), the socio-economic impacts and cost of living.
