Position: Manager of Field Services
CLIENT is seeking an experienced leader to manage a team of field inspectors within the heavy industrial steel manufacturing sector. The Manager of Field Services will be responsible for overseeing a range of day-to-day operations, covering both in-house staff and subcontractors alike, while their influence extends beyond the worksite.
Field inspections include structures such as: overhead cranes, crane runways, mill building inspections, including columns and roof trusses, walking working surfaces, concrete structures, below the hook lifting devices, and other miscellaneous structures found within the industrial manufacturing facilities.
As a manager, the right candidate will be working with a team to coordinate, execute, and oversee daily field tasks to compose a report of findings for engineering review and deliverables, while ensuring and following all safety protocols.
This position requires travel to various customers sites, mostly throughout the Midwest, and at times, in other parts of the country. Typical work schedule is during regular work hours, Monday through Friday. However, this position may require overtime on weekends, night-shifts, and emergency call-outs.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Associate/bachelor's degree in engineering, technical studies and/or business management. Management experience in the steel and industrial industries is highly preferred.
2 to 5 years' experience in a managerial or similar role.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to operate a manlift.
Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
Project management, computer literacy, customer service, time management, communication, and organizational skills.
Industry-specific training and experience.
Self-motivator with a logistical approach to problem-solving and an eye for meticulous detail. A natural leader and problem solver with a demonstrated sound work ethic.
Ability to read and interpret AutoCad drawings.
Savy computer & tablet skills especially with Microsoft programs, emails, and applications

Responsibilities
The role primarily focuses on supervising a team of employees in the field, which can cover a wide range of individual assignments as well as working alongside clients. The Manager of Field Services will:
Be confident and professional at all times.
Oversee day-to-day field activity and operations.
Control budgets and optimize expenses.
Oversee recruitment and training of new employees.
Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally.
Complete site-specific safety training and maintain up-to-date safety certifications.
Ensure staff follow health and safety regulations and maintain proper safety certifications.
Identify potential hazards prior to working at the assigned facility.
Complete daily work permits, forms and paperwork as required.
Assist inspection team to identify deficiencies in structures or equipment.
Assist in documentation of deficiencies on a tablet and take digital photos.
Compose reports (the final deliverable) to the client.
Ability to ready drawings to obtain specific information to label and/or
number location of findings.
Learn and acknowledge inspection specifications specific to identified structures.
Provide field sketches to note locations of various types of equipment and/or structures within the facility.
Prepare reports for upper management.
Provide solutions to issues (e.g. employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
Comfortable processing terminations and providing technical assistance.
Manage work schedules and timesheets for managed team.
Reports directly to the Vice President and company owners.
Ensure adherence to safety procedures, processes, policies, and standards.
Plan, organize, and manage activities of assigned staff and/or program.
Assist in the development, administration, and implementation of training programs.
Review and sign off on internal reports, field reports, and time sheets.
Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
Responsible for directing employees in the field to the respective Division(s).
This Position will Encounter the Following Physical Tasks
Working in confined spaces
To reach, climb, and/or grasp ladders or other tall structures. Field activities involve walking, bending, and climbing on steps, ladders and walkways at various heights.
Physically fit to stand and walk for long periods of time.
