Job Description: Construction Health and Safety Manager

Location: Manchester, UK

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Construction Health and Safety Manager to join our team . The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety on all construction sites. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, training staff, and ensuring all safety procedures are followed. Visiting sites in Derby, Preston, Manchester and Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:

Health and Safety Management:

Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international health and safety standards.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.

Risk Assessment and Management:

Perform risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain records of incidents, inspections, and risk assessments.

Training and Development:

Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees and contractors.
Ensure all staff are aware of and understand health and safety policies and procedures.
Keep up-to-date with new legislation and best practices, and ensure training materials are current.

Coordination and Communication:

Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure safety protocols are integrated into project plans.
Communicate effectively with employees, contractors, and stakeholders regarding safety matters.
Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety issues on construction sites.

Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare and submit detailed reports on health and safety performance.
Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities and incidents.
Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or equivalent.
Membership of a recognized professional body such as IOSH or IIRSM.
Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry.
Proven track record of managing health and safety on large-scale construction projects.
Experience in conducting safety training and audits.
Skills and Competencies:

In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Working Conditions:

Primarily site-based with some office work.
Regular travel to various construction sites within the Manchester area.

Salary: Competetive day rate dependaent on expereince
