Do you have experience in managing PMO's in the charity or public sector? Are you ready for a new challenge? Yes, great as we are recruiting an experienced PMO Manager to join our vibrant and inclusive team.
The Strategic Delivery Team works across Mencap to plan and implement a range of strategic initiatives ensuring that Mencap delivers its vision for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives.
The successful applicant will lead on all PMO activities required across the strategic portfolio of initiatives. The portfolio by its nature will typically be large and cross-cutting, involving significant people, process and technology changes. Strong stakeholder management and the ability to demonstrate the value of utilising methodologies, as well as to apply them proportionally and visually will be key to keeping stakeholders engaged and supported.
You’ll have experience of applying best practice PMO methodologies to deliver a multi-million pound portfolio and large-scale organisational change, demonstrating tangible benefits in a complex organisation.
This position is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week over Monday – Friday. This is a permanent position. We have a flexible working policy so you can work where it suits you best, with occasional travel (approx. 1 trip per month to our Peterborough Office and approx.1 trip per quarter to either Birmingham or our London Office).
Your main duties as a PMO Manager:

To be the custodian for all portfolio data, ensuring that there is a single source of truth and that all PMO reports are up to date, accurate and aligned to the single source of truth.
To fulfil the responsibility of secretariat for the Portfolio Management Board, ensuring the supply of relevant and timely material as an input to the meeting, together with the production of all papers.
To advise on the sequencing, scheduling and dependencies of initiatives, monitoring their alignment to the Big Plan, providing recommendations to governing bodies on the proposed implications on portfolio level benefits and outcomes.
To develop and deliver a roadmap of PMO and Portfolio Improvements, ensuring that colleagues are involved in its creation.
To Chair gateway reviews, ensuring portfolio, programme and project baselines are updated following approval.
To manage new demand, providing indicative estimates of effort, budget, benefits and scheduling to inform analysis at portfolio level of the potential impact on the current portfolio, with analysis of options to determine the agreed solution.
To be responsible for the development of the Centre of Excellence, working collaboratively with the wider leadership team and to establish relevant communities of practice and hold relevant events for the different communities throughout the year.The skills and experiences for the PMO Manager:

Significant knowledge & at least 3 years recent experience of successfully managing and maturing PMOs in public or charity sector
Knowledge & experience of implementation and operation of PPM tooling
Significant experience of supporting all types of project governance at all levels of an organisation
Knowledge and experience of producing high-quality programme and project templates which can be applied proportionately
Experience as a PMO Manager who has line-management experience and who has experience in coaching team members and other stakeholders
Strong IT skills in Power BI, Sharepoint, and Teams Forms to develop and maintain portfolio reports
