Graduate Civils / CAD Technician

Working for an established Engineering Aviation company in Luton, this entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity for recent or aspiring graduates to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of Civil Engineering.

Under the guidance of experienced professionals, the Graduate Civil Engineer will serve a key function in providing assistance with the planning, design and permitting of a range of projects, while building a solid foundation for their career development.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The main function of the role will involve using engineering and design software to support stakeholders, with a particular focus on the maintenance of the Civils Infrastructure. This can require the candidate to fulfil such duties as:

* Prepare engineering designs and drawings for stakeholders across the airport using industry-standard software and methodologies.

* Review and modify existing airport drawings to ensure accuracy throughout the portfolio.

* Conduct quality checks on completed drawings to identify errors or inconsistencies.

* Develop and implement a process which incorporates the management, development and issuing of all drawings.

* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective management and integration of all as-built drawings, development works and O&M manuals into a centralised electronic system.

* Oversee and integrate any surveys and data so all information is current and correct.

* Act as the focal point within for all drawing and related requests.

* Participate in site visits, inspections and construction supervision to broaden knowledge of site-based activities.

* Assist Senior Engineers and Civil Engineering Manager in the planning, design and implementation of Civil Engineering projects.

* Learn and apply relevant codes, standards, and best practices in Civil Engineering to project work.

* Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to expand technical skills and knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is expected to hold and have some experience and knowledge in the following:

* A Civil Engineering-based qualification and/or a minimum of 2 years demonstrable experience in Civil Engineering.

* Proven experience as a CAD Technician or similar role, and Proficient in industry- standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or Microstation.

* Strong understanding of Technical Drawing principles and standards

* Experience in design standards, particularly Highway Design (training can be provided for Aerodrome Standards).

* Proficient in the use of all packages within Microsoft Office

* Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability in engineering practices.
