Mechanical Project Manager

Location: Liverpool

Contract: Permanent, 40 Hours per week

Company Department Overview: Our client are a contractor for the provision of Mechanical, Electrical and Telecommunication services. Their Mechanical and Electrical Department for the role of the Mechanical Project is responsible for the control of their designated Project or assigned tasks / duties. In the absence of the Senior Project Manager the Programme Manager will be the next tier of reporting.

Primary Objective: The primary objective of the Mechanical Project Manager will include control and documentation relating to the designated project, close monitoring of the commercial aspect of any allocated project, ensuring compliance with all HSQE legislation and internal policies and procedures relating safe and efficient delivery of the project. In liaison with Departmental Managers, to be responsible for ensuring that all documentation, services, and processes are completing in line with the needs of the business. To motivate and inspire all employees in the division and promote and enforce a safe working environment as per the companies world-class standards.

Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following tasks:

-Site survey of potential M&E Projects, including layout design, quotation, and Client liaison.

-Management of day-to-day project delivery within a geographical area, including delivery to client requirements, safety, quality, street works, supplier performance and improvement.

-Commercial management and reporting to line managers.

-Drive a “Safety First” and “Right First Time” culture across the field operations backed up through plans and engagement with suppliers.

-Manage and lead M&E field supervisors responsible for ongoing Projects.

-Ensure accidents, incidents and near misses, quality failures and service deterioration trends are investigated competently, and corrective action is taken where and when appropriate.

-Through a close working relationship with commercial, identity at the earliest opportunity risks to delivering the budget, supplier and/ or overhead cost impacting upon the project.

-Manage the operational relationship with all suppliers and have monitoring in place to ensure the companies standards are adhered to and met.

-Manage staff, oversee work schedules, and assign specific duties accordingly.

-Deliver quality service to the client ensuring that performance standards & contractual KPI’s and SLAs are met.

-Carry out regular audits of staff performance and quality of work to ensure the highest standard of service and workmanship is being achieved.

-Communicate closely and provide timely and accurate periodical reports to Senior Project Manager defining project progress, problems, and solutions.

-Assessing designs received from client including any walkouts with client supervisors.

-Overall responsibility for all site works, methodology and programme.

-Adhering to safety to safety and performance standards

-Working as part of a team to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.

-To always promote a positive and professional image of the department, by adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.

-Raising and following up on non-conformance reports, to ensure that any actions identified, pursued, and resolved.

-Work safely and responsibly within the companies values and operational policies, procedures, and accepted behaviours to avoid harm to yourself, those around you and our neighbours and communities.

Relationships: To be effective in this role the Mechanical Project Manager will need to:

-Maintain and build up a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, customers, suppliers, and senior management teams.

-Be able to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.

-Communicate effectively with all other departments.

Personal Specification: To be successful in this role the Mechanical Project Manager will:

-Have strong planning, organisation, and monitoring abilities.

-Previous experience of working within the Telecoms Sector i.e., Data Centres, Telephone exchanges, etc.

-Sage experience.

-CRM experience.

-Previous experience of management on M&E Projects.

-Recognised Building Services Qualification.

-Enjoy a challenge, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.

-Have a high standard of numeracy.

-Be educated to a G.C.S.E level B+ in Mathematics & English (or equivalent).

-Be computer literate.

-Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

-Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

-Can prioritise work, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage business expectations.

-Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.

-A legal right to work in the UK.

-As a requirement for the Mechanical and Electrical Department an enhanced DBS check must be passed due to the client buildings being visited.

-Full UK Driving License which has been continuously held for 12 months or more, with no more than 6 points

-A legal right to work in the UK.

Qualifications: Desired Experience & Qualifications:

-Mechanical engineering qualification

-Building Services qualification (HNC desired).

-APM qualification

-IOSH/ NEBOSH

-Legionella Awareness
