Position: Maintenance Engineer

Package: £40,000 - £45,000 pa + 21 days holidays rising to 25 with service plus stats, Pension scheme, Annual company bonus.

Location: Llay, Wrexham (LL12)

Hours: Monday – Thursday 8.45am – 5pm & Friday 8.45am – 3.45pm (37.5hrs p/wk)

Summary: To be responsible for the successful installation, maintenance and repair of all machinery, plant equipment, tools and systems used in the manufacturing, engineering and production processes. To conduct periodic maintenance checks and take the lead in effective preventative maintenance programs. To plan equipment upgrades and machinery modifications, identify faults, investigate equipment breakdowns and monitor the performance of equipment after repairs have been carried out. To ensure the Organisation’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies are followed at all times.

Environments: Responsibility for the maintenance of their plastic extrusion & recycling site in Wrexham. They continue to invest in brand new machinery for their industrial and high-speed manufacturing environments, including state of the art automated robotic packaging machinery. From time to time will be expected to support maintenance at the company’s flag ship site in Lancashire (95% of the time will be at Wrexham)

Equipment: Main equipment at Wrexham site is plastic recycling equipment such as pulverisers, granulators, shredders, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics etc as well as plastic extrusion machines.

As well as manufacturing and distributing high quality products they are a recycler, processor and compounder of PVC waste and boast an extensive range of extrusion capacity and capability. They also have the ability to ‘run’ their customers tooling, making them a truly vertically integrated supply chain partner.

Summary of responsibilities:

* Maintenance position maintaining and repairing all machinery on site (80% mechanical, 20% basic electrics)

* Responsible for maintaining plastic recycling equipment such as pulverisers, granulators, shredders, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics as well as extrusion machines, and all other associated plant equipment, tools and systems used in manufacturing, engineering, and production processes.

* Periodic maintenance checks, planning equipment upgrades and machinery modifications.

* Identifying faults, investigating equipment breakdowns, and monitoring the performance of equipment after repairs have been carried out.

* Ensuring the Organisation’s Health and Safety Policies are followed at all times.

* Stocks of supplies and equipment/consumables are identified and stocked.

* Reactive cover at other sites within the group when necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience

* A relevant approved qualification in electrical/mechanical engineering such as C+G/NVQ Lv3 apprenticeship, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or qualified by experience.

* Multiskilled, ideally with good basic electrical skills (motor changes, fault finding) and competent with hydraulics and pneumatics.

* Experience of working in a similar industrial manufacturing environment desirable with a Quality and H&S mindset.

* In depth knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing / production machinery you would find in any high-speed manufacturing environment.

* Plastics, injection moulding or extrusion machinery experience would be an advantage, however FMCG, Manufacturing or Production environments would be considered

* Clear communications and understanding of basic operational instructions, both written and verbal.
