The Client

Our client is one of the UK’s largest engineering surveyors specialising in land, measured building and underground utility surveys as well as monitoring and site engineering schemes. They have a network of eleven offices across the UK, with over 150 surveyors and engineers working on some of the UK’s major construction and infrastructure developments.

The Role

Our client a premier engineering surveying firm, and are seeking an experienced Utility Surveyor to enhance their Utility Surveying team at our Manchester office.

In this role, you will independently conduct comprehensive utility surveys ranging from small to large scale, employing cutting-edge technology and processing data to a high standard in the office. You should be comfortable managing multi-disciplinary survey projects and possess a thorough understanding of various surveying techniques and data collection methods.

Additionally, you will mentor junior team members, sharing your expertise and facilitating their growth through practical field and office-based experiences.

As a Utility Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

* Conducting a variety of utility and CCTV surveys independently, ensuring high-quality standards across projects of varying scale and complexity.

* Collaborating on large and complex surveying projects with team members of varying technical expertise to meet high standards of execution.

* Providing leadership and guidance to team members during large and complex survey projects.

* Working effectively with trainees, junior staff, and survey technicians, aiding in their development through hands-on experience both on-site and in the office.

* Contributing to the efficient progress of projects with minimal supervision, achieving set objectives, project deliverables, and maintaining consistent high-quality performance.

* Maintaining survey instruments to ensure they are in excellent condition and fit for purpose.

* Conducting initial site inspections and dynamic risk assessments at survey locations, and promptly reporting any safety concerns to the survey team or management.

Requirements

* Prior experience in the utility surveying sector (2-3+ years).

* Demonstrated ability to independently execute utility and CCTV surveys across a spectrum of sizes and complexities.

* Proficient in traversing and managing GPS control networks.

* Skilled in processing both raw survey data and CAD data to high standards.

* Professional demeanor with strong communication skills.

* A deep understanding of health and safety practices within the civil engineering industry.

* Driven to build a long-term career.

* Possession of a full UK driving licence.

* Capability to travel to our office in Manchester.
