Mechanical Technician to join a globally leading Chemical manufacturing company committed to investing significantly in the successful candidate's career and personal development. This role offers an annual salary of £30,000, with eligibility for enrolment in the company's share incentive program after 9 months, potentially adding up to 20% on top of the base salary. The position is day-based, Monday to Friday, with flexibility in start and finish times, alongside 25 days of annual leave and a comprehensive benefits package.
As a Mechanical Technician, you will support the Engineering Manager in ensuring Health and Safety requirements are met, oversee all maintenance activities and site repairs, develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors, manage contractors through the permit to work process, foster strong inter-departmental relationships, implement process improvements for enhanced performance, and apply problem-solving skills and initiative effectively.
Mechanical Technician Responsibilities
Ensure all maintenance, calibration, and repairs are done correctly and on time by contractors or personnel.
Advise external contractors on site safety requirements, ensure they complete the appropriate permit to work, and perform duties safely according to company processes, stopping any unsafe practices.
Supervise high-risk tasks such as working at height, confined space work, and live electrical work for both in-house and contractor activities.
Maintain and update machinery/plant and calibration database records, including all maintenance files, to ensure accessibility of data.
Record all part numbers and supplier details to facilitate prompt ordering of spares.
To be successful in this Mechanical Technician position, candidates should have over three years of experience in mechanical or chemical plant operations, excellent literacy and numeracy skills, relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office packages
