We are looking for an experienced Band 6/ Band 7 Radiotherapy Radiographer to provide safe and accurate specialist technical service delivering therapeutic ionising radiation, while maintaining a high duty of care to all patients undergoing Radiotherapy.

To be successful in this role, the client expects you to meet some or all of the below requirements:

* Participate in departmental on-call service.

* Work flexible hours, participate in Bank holiday working. and work overtime as required.

* Take personal responsibility for the safe use of highly complex expensive equipment.

* Demonstrate effective team leadership skills; manage a team of radiographers, students and helpers.

Requirements:

*

Have 6-12 months of UK experience in clinical settings.

*

Valid DBS

*

Hold Radiography degree (MSc or BSc) and full HCPC registration

*

Be available to commence the role within 1-2 weeks and happy to commit to a minimum of 6 months.

*

Right to work in the UK (No sponsorpship)

Job Purpose:

You will be excpected to be a part of a specialist team rotating through the pre-treatment and treatment areas of Radiotherapy. This will include working in a senior capacity, to support the team leader of the highly complex treatment unit, Brachytherapy unit, CT planning unit or pre-treatment liaison area.

You will be required to manage all aspects of the workload in the absence of a Band 7 Team lead and will be directly responsible, under their duty of care, for the planning, treatment and care of patients undergoing Radiotherapy.

Provide daily supervision and training to junior staff, students and visitors

Additionally you will work closely with Radiotherapy Physicists, Technicians, Oncologists, Dieticians, Speech Therapists, Nurses, Admin staff ,other Radiographers and other professional groups to provide a thorough, efficient service encompassing all aspects of accurate Radiotherapy treatment delivery and patient care.

Will actively participate in clinical trials and in house research.

Essential:

*

Specialist knowledge of treatment delivery techniques including IMRT and IGRT.

*

Experience of CT procedures within Radiotherapy and virtual simulation.

*

Proven evidence and understanding of working under IR(ME)R 2000/2017

*

Patient handling techniques frequently manoeuvring patients into accurate set-up positions.

*

Experience and understanding of Record and Verify systems eg ARIA

*

Demonstrable Knowledge of Cancer Pathology and disease patterns

*

Highly developed physical accuracy and hand/eye co-ordination.

Desirable:

*

Experience with Varian Equipment and ARIA.

*

Experience using Prosoma Virtual Simulation.

*

Cannulation and contrast agent delivery (or willingness to undergo training).

*

Able to enter data into and extract data from specialist databases.

OTHER FACTORS:

Able to work in an environment with constant light changes, dark to light every few minutes, the use of lasers within the room, working in air conditioned environment without windows or natural sun light
