Advantage are currently recruiting a Maintenance/ caretaker Operative to work for one of our Manufacturing clients based in the LS12 area of Leeds. The successful candidate must have experience of undertaking general building and maintenance work.
Therole is a straight permanent role for the right candidate.
Job Purpose Summary:
The primary objective of the Maintenance & Caretaker Operative is the responsibility for maintaining high standards of repair and maintenance throughout the site. To provide efficient and effective caretaking support for the site including ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in line with the requirements of BRC/BSI/ISO Accreditations standards. Ensure that heating / cooling systems operate at optimum efficiency liaising with contractors to ensure certifications are provided to evidence testing if required.
Ensure any external contractors adhere to onsite rules in line with accreditations.
You will be expected to observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to.
The Compliance Manager will carry out site audits on a regular basis. It is the responsibility of the Management to ensure that high standards of repair are reached and maintained.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and scheduled maintenance of the entire Site Internally and Externally This includes: Basic plumbing, joinery, electrical work, alongside regular painting & decoration work.

Electrical – within your capabilities and competence – liaising with electrical contractors.
*
Painting as required – external, internal (floor markings when required)
*
Joinery- First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs. Putting up notice boards, site signage etc.
*
Basic plumbing - un-blocking of sinks, traps and waste pipes, adjusting - re-washer of taps.
*
To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc.
*
To ensure all equipment, machinery and buildings are secure.
*
To dispose of waste materials in a safe, hygienic manner ensuring that it is available for collection as required.
*
To report emergencies in the case of faults with gas, electric and water supply to the Value Stream Director and minor faults to the Compliance team.
*
Maintain on site generators, including checking of oil and coolant levels and topping up where required, as directed within documented procedures.
*
Maintain Lundberg equipment, including checking of oil and replacing filters where required, as directed within documented procedures.
*
Basic machine maintenance of Production Resources, report any issues to Value Stream Director/Compliance Manager.
Department Role Cover
*
To cover cleaning of shop floor production areas, and from time to time use ride on scrubber dryer daily when Site Cleaning operative is absent.
*
Work with cleaning team to prepare for site visits and audits.
*
Deputise hygiene audit in the absence of the Compliance Manager
Hours, Salary & Benefits
*
Monday to Friday 07:30-16:30 (With 1 hour unpaid break)
* Salary is negotiable and will be discussed upon interview with the client
