Adept Resourcing are working with a West Yorkshire based business within the steel industry and are looking to recruit a Draughtsman to be based at their site in Knottingley. This is a very hands-on position, demanding high levels of creativity and flexibility and it comes with excellent prospects to progress.

The role:

Reporting to the Production manager, you will work closely with the design engineering team. The purpose of the role is to create accurate technical drawings based on given measurements, specifications and calculations.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Follow specifications, calculations and rough sketches to create technical drawings.

* Prepare detailed work using Solidworks.

* Perform calculations for materials and weight limitations.

* Communicate with customers and the Design Engineer, incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.

* Prepare, review and re-draft where necessary.

* Ensure final designs are compliant with all current regulations.

* Identify and communicate potential design problems to the production team

* Prepare quotes

* Provide lists of materials and quantities required

* Accompany the Design Engineer on site visits

Experience/ Skills:

* Steel fabrication background is essential

* Graduate in a discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Manufacture Engineering, or Product Design. Other degree disciplines may also be considered.

* Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through relevant experience, through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities.

* Have the ability to demonstrate an understanding of general engineering principles.

* Be assertive, optimistic, resilient and welcoming change.

* Have a creative, logical approach for generating new ideas and solutions.

* Have a sound knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software, technical drawings and 3D modelling, ideally with SolidWorks
