Job Description:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, along with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts by recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring data integrity.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with accounting standards and regulations.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations to management to support financial planning and decision-making.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, payments, and receipts, and reconciling accounts as needed.
Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records, investigating and resolving discrepancies as necessary.
Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing and filing various tax returns, including corporate income tax returns, sales tax returns, and payroll tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and prepare reports to communicate findings to management.
Audit Support: Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, answering inquiries, and assisting with audit fieldwork as needed.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function, and collaborate with team members to implement changes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
CPA or progress towards CPA certification preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
