We are looking for a dynamic, professional and experienced Assistant Catering and Events Operations Manager to join our team on the start of this exciting journey.

Purpose of the Post

To support the Catering and Events Operations Manager to ensure excellent day to day operational practice and provide effective line management for the Team Leaders and Catering and Events Operations Assistants.

To assist with managing the Catering and Events Operations in accordance with health and hygiene legislation and departmental procedures. To ensure the customer experience of Catering services in an effective and efficient manner.

To ensure that the Catering and Events Teams remain aligned to the facilities Values and Behaviours framework and competent in safe working practices, in accordance with departmental procedures. To ensure that direct reports comply with the policies, health and hygiene legislation in all catering operations.

Key Responsibilities

* To manage and motivate team members, creating and reviewing individual performance/training frameworks and annual staff appraisals in accordance with departmental goals and personal development needs

* To ensure stock control / taking is conducted monthly in each area in accordance with the Campus Services Financial guidelines

* To support Direct Reports to ensure staff resources are used efficiently and in line with set financial parameters

* To support Direct Reports to identify and implement changes in customer service and product offers to maximise revenue

* To monitor and support the requirement for the outlet teams to conduct all their working practices in accordance with the Food Hygiene, Health and Safety legislation, financial regulations and fire procedures and the Catering and Events department policies

* To promote customer friendly services within and across teams

* To manage staff issues sensitively and confidentially, including recruitment, conduct and performance, sickness and attendance, authorise annual leave requests in accordance with policies and procedures

* To assist in organising Manager and Supervisor meetings to communicate and develop positive working relationships between all areas of the business

* To offer assistance to the Head of Catering and Events to implement service improvements

* To manage the operational budget, in areas of responsibility, with the objectives of ensuring total customer satisfaction

* Ensure the effective management of Direct Reports to ensure effective management of all catering and events within the department to deliver a professional and efficient service

* On a weekly basis, authorise time sheets for areas of responsibility

* To manage portion control and wastage at all events in accordance with departmental policies

* Ensure staff work safely and in compliance with the Food Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations

* Receive and record customer feedback, identifying and implementing changes in customer service and product offer to maximise revenue

* To ensure the team are effectively managing the recruitment and selection process

* To assist and support the Catering and Events Management teams with managing staff absence in accordance with policies and procedures

* To develop team briefings to communicate and develop positive working relationships

* To assist and be pro-active in the researching, collating, devising, production and coordination of departmental documentation to include: Customer communications, Customer feedback, Customer information pack, Audio visual instructions, Management reports
