Inside Construction have been appointed to recruit a Senior Construction Manager for a management/main contractor who partners with companies across the globe to provide sustainable projects. They work with clients in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, nuclear, power and aviation industries across the UK and offer a management service for new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects.

The role
We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager to be based on site in Barnard Castle to be responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities related to delivery of EPCM projects. Working closely with construction supervisors, project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, the Construction Manager will ensure that construction projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The role will involve managing on‐site construction teams, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and ensuring timely project delivery within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with project managers to develop construction plans, schedules, and budgets for EPCM projects in the pharmaceutical sector.
* Coordinate with engineering teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
* Review project specifications, drawings, and designs to ensure alignment with construction requirements and client expectations.
* Supervise and coordinate construction activities on‐site, including site preparation, equipment installation, structural work, and finishing. Monitor progress against the construction schedule and take corrective actions to address any delays or issues.
* Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
* Provide guidance and support to construction teams to ensure work is carried out efficiently and in accordance with project plans.
* Implement quality control measures to ensure that construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and client requirements.
* Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and installations. Address any non‐conformances or deficiencies identified during construction and work with subcontractors to implement correct actions.
* Help to enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations on construction sites to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries.
* Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate controls.
* Provide safety training and awareness programs for construction personnel to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
* Maintain regular communication with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, issues, and resolutions.
* Prepare and submit regular progress reports, including construction schedules, budget updates, and risk assessments. Document all construction activities, including daily reports, inspection records, change orders, and as‐built drawings for project documentation and closeout.
The Person
* Degree, HND, HNC or similar in related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of qualification.
* Extensive experience in construction management, with a focus on EPCM projects in the pharmaceutical industry or similar regulated environments.
* Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials. ·
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to construction projects in the pharmaceutical sector.
