What's the role?

An established, family run Midland's contractor is looking for strong minded, purposeful, and driven Design Manager for their smalls works division. This newly created role will see the successful individual heading up a team to deliver the entire technical function on projects ranging from £500k to £5 million covering mainly refurb framework projects.

What are we looking for from you.

Ideally you need to have demonstratable technical experience within a main contractor, having worked on a variety of framework projects and ideally extensive experience on refurb works.

Most important is your ambition and character. You will be overseeing a whole division and more than that with this being a new role, someone who can make decisions and stand by them, can work with diverse team and can be accountable for the choices made, is crucial. The most important thing is you bring your determination and passion to this exciting new role. This is a chance to do something different in your career and really make an impact both in the organisation and the wider community.

What will the role entail?

Overseeing the full coordination of all design deliverables from cradle to grave on a range of complex small works projects.
Chair design coordination meetings with the design team and manage said team effectively and efficiently.
Encourage cost-effective, innovative solutions.
Knowledge and use of Viewpoint 4 projects, document controller
Create the Design Release Schedule in alignment with project and procurement timelines and ensure that the release of design information adheres to the agreed-upon schedule.
Manage and coordinate the flow of information between all departments and stakeholders and provide sound technical advice as and when necessary.
