Our client is committed to addressing global ESG issues and is looking to recruit a Communications Director to be based in either Amsterdam or Geneva.

The role is hybrid and will require the successful candidate to be based in the office 2-3 days per week with some European travel.

The Communications Director is responsible for the development and delivery of a communications strategy focused on maintaining and enhancing a specific project and business unit's reputation as a trusted, collaborative and action-oriented reference for certain sustainability issues​ by being proactive and focused on collaboration with senior internal stakeholders. This role will manage the external relations program for the project that seeks to increase both public awareness and awareness in the science community and supports its programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities include:

Define and lead the execution of the communications strategy, including internal and external communications efforts, messaging platforms, including digital content and web, that increase understanding and support of the programs, projects and activities.
Ensures delivery of the communications work through coordination of, and collaboration with, the support of the Communication Co-Chairs, the Communications Network, and the Communications Manager.
Ensures messaging is consistent, timely and relevant, by directing the development and maintenance of an updated global digital repository of communications messaging.
Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of internal and external information, media and external relations.
Prepares informative materials, scripts and speeches and other communications for communications ambassadors.
Serves as the spokesperson for the Project and provides communication counsel and guidance to the Executive Director and organisation.
Builds and fosters relationships with key figures, journalists, the science community, stakeholders and other influencers.
Serves as a liaison and collaborator with regional trade associations to facilitate and ensure consistency in messaging and strategic approach to discussing challenges affecting the industry. Person Profile:

A bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related (sustainability) field.
A master's degree in the aforementioned disciplines is desirable.
Strong experience and responsibility in developing and leading on communications and public relations with comprehensive knowledge in crisis management.
Experience of working in an international, multi-cultural environment.
Proven track record of accomplishments with various media sources (social media, web-based, broadcast, and print media).
Experience with legislative, legal, and regulatory activities is desirable.
A specialisation in sustainability, the manufacturing industry and/or the natural sciences is a distinct advantage.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; skills in Japanese and/or Korean are an advantage.
Must be detail-oriented with good project-management skills and excellent analytical and organisational abilities.
Must be used to working in complex organisations and environments.
Must be able to lead, motivate, direct, train, and develop others
