Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in the financial management and operations of the company. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial records.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and regulations.
Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High level of integrity and commitment to ethical standards.
