Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (PRN)

Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The scope of the nurse examiner’s expertise includes performing a comprehensive, skilled, medical-legal examination to identify, collect and document physical findings associated with sexual assault. The nurse is required to maintain the standards of professional nursing within the state Nurse Practice Act.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
In addition to basic care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, the nurse examiner will:
Provide crisis intervention during the initial review and an assessment of injury.
Objectively document health history to determine the bio/psycho/social risk and the risk of medical sequelae.
Objective documentation of the history of the crime.
Collect, document and package forensic evidence for crime lab analysis.
