Responsibilities:

* General ledger -
Management and administration of accounting system, including static data maintenance, period control, foreign exchange rate import and revaluation, year-end close down of P&L, user administration (Europe-wide), helpdesk and monitoring data integrity. Transfer of financial data from and to entities within general ledger environment and to Japanese parent company, including liaising with Japan.

* Other finance systems -
Lead and promote development and use of other Finance systems, see ‘systems in use’, in order to facilitate payments, reconciliation and manage debtor relationships. Maintain account mapping tables between group systems and ensuring governance maintained in change requests.

Identifying opportunities for new systems or system enhancements, with a view to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of Finance processes and a return on investment of existing applications.

Promote the use of system solutions in Finance’s work, including suggesting system approaches for Finance problem-solving.

* Projects -
Lead or contribute to Finance IT projects, including report design and potential upgrade of Q&A & B4B, onboarding of business areas onto under utilised existing systems where promotes efficiency and improves control framework.

* Documentation and processes -
Lead development of Finance data transfer processes and data storage/protection. Maintain and enhance Finance system documentation.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

* Deep professional knowledge of finance systems.

* Broader IT development skills and knowledge, including SQL, VBA, understanding of RDS/VDI/Cloud deployment of applications.

* Well-developed problem-solving skills, including ability to adapt approach and respond to challenges across a broad range of areas (including dealing with different local regulatory requirements). Able to develop creative or innovative solutions and approaches.

* Capable of working largely independently and leading finance system initiatives.

* Experienced administrator of multi-user, multi-currency accounting systems, preferably including Sun Systems. Technical ability to address problems and to adapt systems to local needs whilst adhering to group policy and satisfying group requirements.

* Knowledge of complimentary systems relating to bank reconciliation, payments, invoice/expense authorisation.

* Treasury Management System, Investment Management System knowledge desirable.

* Familiarity with UK general insurance accounting.

* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

* Management/supervisory experience desirable/beneficial.

* Proven track record of working within a deadline driven environment.

* Part Qualified/Qualified ACCA or CIMA or relevant accounting or IT technical degree.

Knowledge of other finance systems such as Q&A11, Sharper Light, MS Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations desirable.
