The Commodity Manager is a key role within our Procurement Shared Service that supports two of our Business Lines, Deployable Infrastructure and Vehicles & Mission Systems. This role will be accountable for a portfolio of Direct Commodity areas that contribute to our organisations manufacturing and design of a variety of infrastructure that supports military and humanitarian efforts across the Globe.

We are looking for an experienced Commodity Manager/Senior Buyer/Supplier Manager who has a strategic and analytical mindset. You will thrive within an environment where you are able to be creative in approach and when solving problems, not afraid to challenge the status quo. You will have access to a wide variety of stakeholders and be able to influence across cross functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Utilise market research to make informed decisions on material and components
Shape bids to align with the commodity strategies and optimise the use of standardised components in the products we propose in customer bids
Work with design teams to deliver the commodity strategy optimise the use of standardised components
Input to and execute a sub-commodity strategy for the Business Lines
Development, management and implementation of sourcing plans in alignment with commodity strategy to deliver agreed savings targets and other benefits
Identify and execute ways to optimise the supplier base within the commodity balancing total cost and security of supply
Support complex negotiations and develop contractual agreements with global, regional and national suppliers
Execute RFx processes
Execute Supplier Relationship Management with strategic and critical suppliers in order to identify and develop innovative approaches to total cost of ownership (TCO)
Represent the commodity on forums
Liaison with suppliers to ensure they are able to meet Marshall requirements including OF.
Support the business in developing a strategy to reduce its supplier base.
Implement supplier reduction programme.
Conduct supplier monitoring and regular reviews and assessment program to measure quality and delivery performance and develop improvement plans as an outcome of theses reviews

Technical Competencies/ Education:

Applicable degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering or similar field preferred
MCIPS, similar qualification or working towards MCIPS
Risk Management
Application of market research/ analytics
Understanding of contract law and ability to negotiate contract terms with suppliers

Key Skills:

Commodity/commodity delivery experience and ability to
Good grasp of commodity management and execution in manufacturing environment
Preferably experience of IFS or working with other ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
Knowledgeable of supply chain processes including MRP, RFx, SRM, Commodity Management and understanding of procure to pay
