SEMH Teaching Assistant

A secondary SEMH specialist school based in the small town of Darwen, Lancashire are looking for Teaching Assistants ideally starting full-time as soon as possible. They are looking for passionate, nurturing individuals who can make a positive impact on its pupils and its school.

The School is a 'Good' rated innovative provider of education and care, supporting students aged 10 - 19 with complex needs such as Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism. Staff here provide personalised, tailored academic and therapeutic support in a calm, welcoming environment.

Key Duties -

Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.  
Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress.  
Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting pupils’ progress according to the school’s policies in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.  
Promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being through a whole Day Curriculum.
About you -

Be passionate and creative in assisting to meet pupils’ individual needs.
Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
Key Information -

Full-time role, Monday to Friday (8:30-3:30pm) start date ASAP or 1st September 2024.
Term-time only role.
PAYE contract.
Secondary SEMH Provision.
Darwen based, (BB3).
Competitive hourly rate of pay of £12.90+ per hour depending on experience and additional duties.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
