About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the well-established, successful, and supportive Haringey Sensory Support Team. The peripatetic role provides advice, information & support for children, young people, families, and professionals in a range of settings to ensure that all deaf children and young people are sensitively supported to reach their full potential. This is a peripatetic post covering two local authorities (Haringey and Enfield.

About You

We are looking for a qualified teacher of the deaf or a teacher with significant SEND experience who has the willingness to train to qualify as a teacher of the deaf. You must be an enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate professional who is interested in developing their skills further. You will need to demonstrate considerable knowledge and successful experience of working with deaf children. This job will require you to work across the age range (0 – 25 years) including newly diagnosed young deaf babies.

The role as a Teacher of the Deaf requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently as well as contributing to the wider Education Inclusion Team. The ability to be well organised and to meet deadlines is essential.

About the Team

We are a team of Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and a Communication Specialist (British Sign Language). We support children with an identified hearing loss, both in the home and a variety of educational settings. We become involved with families and children from their diagnosis. Our work includes supporting and advising families/carers and professionals throughout the child’s developmental and educational journey into adulthood
